I am currently studying Interactive Multimedia Design at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown. Before this, I went to Hazelwood Integrated College from 1st year all the way through to Upper 6th without missing a day off! It was here; I successfully achieved 10 GCSE's and 3 A-levels. For A-level, I studied ICT, Art and Music.
In 2007, I became a member of the Students' Council in my school gaining the title "Head of Creative Arts". Here I enjoyed working in partnership with both teachers and students and got to represent students' opinions and raise issues to senior management and negotiate and problem solve. The Students' Council give me the opportunity to demonstrate my ability to plan and co-ordinate events such as "Hazelwood's Got Talent" which was based on the TV series "Britain's Got Talent". This event raised over £500 for Glenveagh Special School.
In year 12, I did work experience at UTV and in April 2005, I attended a 5 day course at Queen's University Sonic Arts Centre to explore the different aspects of composing music. During my experience that week I made lots of new friends, gained lots of new skills and the biggest achievement of all was getting to write my own composition which was later performed and recorded by the Ireland String Quartet that week.
In my spare time, I enjoy sitting down and playing some cool tunes on my piano such as Snow Patrol. I took up piano at the age of 14 and since then have passed my Grades 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. During my time at school, my music teacher has given me the opportunity to play at school events, such as the school's annual Peace Assembly and the Christmas Carol service where I played alongside my AS-level music class.
On a more social level I would consider myself to be caring; considerate; courteous, friendly and an approachable person. I work part-time as a Customer Assistant in Marks and Spencer, where I enjoy working with others and meeting new people. I am a very practical person and enjoy activities such as drawing, painting, playing some tunes on my piano (or anyone else's) and using the computer. I like taking photographs and enjoy capturing my surroundings while on holiday and at home and I love hanging out with my mates, going to the cinema and partying at Box.
